Review: Synthesis by Evanescence

Obviously by the title this is about Evanescence’s new album Synthesis which is out now and can be purchased or listened to in multiple places, so I feel I should make it clear that I am not being paid for any of the rest of the article. The following is just my own personal opinion of the album and websites discussed in this post.

Okay, so now that that’s out of the way. Let me just say that I absolutely LOVE this album! For those of you who don’t know, the concept for this album is basically the classic Evanescence songs but with a full orchestra and other instruments non-traditional for rock band based music. It is really cool!

As someone who in general likes orchestral instruments better than any electric instruments, I was all about it from the beginning. There’s just something about them that make things sound more epic/movie magic level. The sound is fuller and with headphones you can almost pick out each individual instrument while also hearing them all as a whole. There are so many different elements and movements to focus on that you can listen to a song a bunch of times and it will still sound different each time. Most of the songs on the album are already on their other albums but they all sound so new and interesting that I don’t even mind.

You know how when bands re-release songs or have a Greatest Hits album and you’re like “I’m a fan so I want this” but also like “But do I really want to spend more money on songs I already have?” (In the end I usually end up buying them anyway just for the fan-cred.). When I saw the song list that’s sort of what when through my brain, but when I listened to them when they were released on Youtube (evanescencevideo)  and Spotify it completely changed my mind because they were just so gorgeous and new.

I did say most of the songs are old, but there are two completely new songs with lyrics and two new songs that are purely instrumental. Which adds even more new music excitement to this already pretty exciting album. But I think that best part of the new versions and the new songs is that you can hear Amy Lee’s absolutely gorgeous voice and vocal range even better on this new album. Without the rock background she’s just so clear and pure over the top of the music, like her vocals got drowned out before.

Overall, the album is just amazing and I would totally recommend you listen to it or even buy it. And if you want to they are doing a give away on Tunespeak. My personalized link is in the about me tab and then we both get entries. The winning prize includes a signed Synthesis cd. So go ahead and check that out too.

The Blessed Unrest

There’s a new Sara Bareilles cd coming out on the 16th of July and for a limited time you can preview the entire thing on iTunes. I know a lot of people I talk to  don’t like the fact that there are songs on a cd that are as good as the other songs, but you can’t listen to them before you buy them. Now, this is probably an out dated notion now that we have iTunes and can listen to whatever song you want, but with this cd I was curious because it was there.

I didn’t need the entire preview of the cd. I was hooked after three songs. I would have probably bought it anyway if I had money, but now I  need to have that cd. I recommend you go and you listen to the preview, especially if you’re already a Sara Bareilles fan. It’s is an amazing album.

Nerdfighters, Kelly Clarkson, and other stuff

Alright so I have not been very active in anything, whether it be this blog, the roleplay sites that I’m on, and tumblr. Well that is because I have been watching Vlogbrothers videos like a lot of them because there are 977 and I don’t even know how many of those I’ve watched… I think it’s at least a hundred or more. So that is what I’ve been doing and is what I will continue to do until I have watched them all. (I will post links to every single thing I talk about in the bottom of this post). Now the thing called Nerdfighters is basically a huge community of their fans which can be found in multiple ways. There’s youtube, the ning, and a whole bunch of other cool things. I absolutely love them and you should go watch videos because they are fun, granted watching all of them might be a little crazy so don’t do that unless you don’t like sleep or have an insane amount of time.

Alright so that is only one thing that I’ve been doing for the majority of the week is earning Kellebrities points. They are part of Kelly Clarkson’s new rewards system that will give you cool prizes and stuff. Which is awesome because I’m a HUGE fan and cannot afford awesome stuff after already buying all of her cds (which are also in the prizes). From this, I got the most amazing google chrome skin ever! Unless of course someone has one that features any of the things that are in the picture above my homepage.

As before I mentioned that I have other things to be doing, like roleplaying and tumbling (I don’t know if that’s a real word or not but I’m making it one so it is). All of the sites that I roleplay with are on the sidebar in little picture link things (the sites call them affs.). My tumblr is crazy so I wouldn’t really recommend looking at it unless you want to be drawn into my insanity. But if you do there’s a link in the links section of this post.

I also have books that I’m reading, and books I am writing with Camp NaNoWriMo, and grad. parties because I just graduated high school, and college stuff to do, and movies that I’ve seen, and other stuff like that. So yeah I’ve been busy, also there are charities that I’ve been trying to raise money for (unsuccessfully might I add).

That’s what I’ve been doing, and this post is very uninteresting and a huge block of text but I don’t really care because if you love me you’ll read it anyway. The aforementioned links are just below this sentence in a list, and have a wonderful rest of your day and hopefully you’ll see more posts if you care.

Links:

Also, since I have shoved so many different teasers about stuff I’m writing, if you want like a chapter posted as a post, I will consider it just comment on this and tell me that you would like to read something and then I’ll make a poll and put it in a post and you can vote on which you would like to read. But for now: comments make for a happy blogger so comment!

Last.fm

I just downloaded this radio thing from http://www.last.fm and I must say it is kind of awesome. I for one like the fact that it can go into my Windows Media Player and see what songs I listen to and recommend songs based on that. I’m currently listening to Amy Lee Radio, which is playing artists in the same genre and that are similar to Amy Lee the lead singer of Evanescence. Which is kinda cool. I would totally suggest using this site if you are looking for song recommendations. Or new artist recommendations, because they also give you links as to where you can buy the mp3’s and cd’s. (It’s mostly Amazon.com but still its helpful).

It’s also great if you need inspiring music to help you write a novel (which is what I’m currently doing), but are too bored with your own music collection. I have gotten at least thre more paragraphs since I started listening to this thing. Now is that going to work for everyone? probably not. But still it’s a suggestion.

New Songs!

So  I like this band called Evanescence, and they just came out with a new song! The song is called “What You Want” and it’s off of their new self titled CD that comes out on October 11th. The song can be found on iTunes, and you can listen to it for free on Evanescence’s website at http://www.evanescence.com you can also log in to the site with your wordpress account by using OpenID, what that does I’m not really sure but it’s there. I absolutely love this new song, and all of their other songs as well, so I can’t wait to get my hands on the cd. Too bad I don’t have enough money for it.

But if you do have enough money for it, I would recommend buying it. Or at least checking it out. Just think you may find that you have a new favorite band. I know that even after only listening to one song I was hooked but that was a couple of years ago. In other news I have currently started editting someone else’s story, and signed on for a peer editting project for a friend, and I am making slow progress on my current project. Which I good, but I’m going to have a very busy August and begining of September, especially because I also have to start my college essays.
